A Beautiful Winter Wedding at Middleton Lodge

Megan and Joshua’s wedding at Middleton Lodge Estate was the perfect example of how magical winter weddings can be. With soft seasonal light, cosy candlelit spaces, and a relaxed atmosphere, their day felt incredibly romantic from start to finish.


Middleton Lodge is one of my favourite venues in the North of England to photograph. The Georgian architecture, beautiful gardens, and elegant interiors create a stunning backdrop in every season, but there’s something particularly special about it in winter.


Getting Ready at Middleton Lodge

The morning started with Megan getting ready with her closest friends and family in one of the beautiful rooms on the estate. There was such a calm and happy atmosphere as everyone prepared for the day ahead.


Winter weddings often have this lovely sense of intimacy, and that was definitely the case here. With warm tones, soft natural light, and lots of laughter, the morning felt relaxed and joyful.


Joshua spent the morning with his groomsmen nearby, sharing a few drinks and plenty of excitement before the ceremony. They also played snooker in one of the gorgeous Middleton Lodge reception rooms.


A Romantic Ceremony

Megan and Joshua’s ceremony was full of emotion. The moment they saw each other at the aisle was incredibly special, and you could really feel how much love there was between them.


Winter ceremonies have such a cosy atmosphere, and Middleton Lodge’s elegant interiors made the perfect setting. Surrounded by their favourite people, Megan and Joshua exchanged vows and officially became husband and wife. I loved that they had mistletoe at the top of the aisle too!


Winter Portraits Around the House

One of the things I love about photographing weddings at Middleton Lodge is how many beautiful spots there are for portraits. Even in winter, the grounds and house provide incredible backdrops.


We used the house for couple portraits as it was raining a little bit, making the most of the timeless architecture of the estate. Megan and Joshua were so natural together; lots of laughter, quiet moments, and just enjoying a few minutes together away from the celebrations.


A Cosy and Fun Wedding Reception

After the ceremony, guests gathered for drinks, hugs, and plenty of celebrations. The reception space looked incredible, with warm lighting and elegant winter styling that perfectly suited the venue.


The speeches were a highlight of the day; equal parts emotional and hilarious. There were definitely a few happy tears and a lot of laughter around the room!

The mix of elegant Georgian architecture, beautiful gardens, and warm, atmospheric interiors makes it an incredible setting in every season and winter weddings here feel especially romantic.


Megan and Joshua’s day was such a lovely reminder that winter weddings can be just as vibrant and joyful as summer celebrations. Between the soft winter light, cosy spaces, and a dance floor that stayed full all evening, their wedding had the perfect balance of romance and fun - the kind of day that feels just as good as it looks.
