A romantic wedding in Manchester city centre

Weddings in Manchester are always so special to me. The combination of iconic architecture, vibrant city life, and amazing bars and restaurants for receptions makes it the perfect location. I love being in the city so much (I'm always a massive fan of city breaks for holidays!) and love living in the city so I'll always jump at the chance of photographing a city centre wedding. Manchester is always such a fun vibe for weddings and Vicky and Declan’s wedding was no exception - they had their ceremony at Heron House at Manchester Registry Office before celebrating with a beautiful reception at The Jane Eyre in Chorlton.

Getting ready at The Stock Exchange Hotel

The wedding day started with Vicky and Declan getting ready together at The Stock Exchange Hotel, a luxurious hotel in the heart of Manchester. It’s always refreshing when couples choose to get ready together; it’s a modern twist on tradition that allows them to share those quiet, private, exciting moments before the ceremony. Wedding days can be incredibly busy, so I always encourage couples to take time to relax and enjoy these small, meaningful moments together.

The Stock Exchange Hotel offered a stunning setting, with elegant interiors perfect for those candid getting-ready photos. One detail in The Stock Exchange that I loved in particular was the beautiful floor in the lobby.

A beautiful ceremony at Manchester Registry Office

Manchester Registry Office is a great venue for a civil ceremony in Manchester. Its central location makes it so easy for guests travelling in and I'm a huge fan of how many amazing venues are nearby. It's also great for weddings of different sizes, whether you're planning an intimate Manchester wedding or a larger one!

After the ceremony, we stepped outside for some confetti and wandered around getting photos, using the backdrop of Manchester’s iconic buildings. With nearby landmarks like Manchester Central Library, this area offers so many photo opportunities for couples wanting a mix of historic and urban aesthetics.

The reception at The Jane Eyre in Chorlton

Once the ceremony concluded, we headed to The Jane Eyre in Chorlton for drinks and dinner. I love the industrial-chic vibe and welcoming atmosphere - The Jane Eyre is definitely a hidden gem for intimate wedding receptions.

The couple’s reception was full of heartfelt moments, from emotional speeches to the incredible food and cocktails. The staff at The Jane Eyre ensured every guest felt looked after, and the stylish interior added a modern and cosy touch to the celebration. One of my favourite moments was Vicky and Declan cutting a cake that had been lovingly made by a talented friend. It’s always wonderful to see friends and family contributing to a couple’s special day with such personal touches.

Having had many Sunday roasts at The Jane Eyre in Ancoats before, I knew the food would be incredible - and it didn’t disappoint! It was a true joy to capture Vicky and Declan’s celebration in such a fantastic space.

Why Manchester is perfect for weddings

Manchester city centre is a dream location for weddings. From the elegant architecture to the trendy reception spaces, the city offers the perfect balance of historic charm and modern vibes.

Everything is also so accessible; your guests can easily move between venues, and you’re spoiled for choice when it comes to iconic photo locations. Whether you’re looking for urban backdrops, lush green parks, or unique spaces, Manchester has it all.
