Getting Married at Islington Town Hall
There’s something about photographing Islington Town Hall weddings that never loses its charm. The building has such a beautiful vibe and so much grandeur - art deco features, an iconic marble staircase - but somehow also feels intimate.
Harriet and Adam's wedding day started off with a gorgeous first look in front of Islington Town Hall. I love how casual and relaxed this was - Harriet simply hopped out of her iconic black London cab and Adam was waiting to greet her. I loved that all the guests saw Harriet arrive too, it created such a lovely atmosphere before the ceremony and helped calm any pre-ceremony nerves!
The ceremony took place in the council chamber - I love that the seating arrangement in the chamber makes it so the guests are sat surrounding the couple. It was such a lovely moment when Harriet and Adam entered the wedding ceremony together; I love when couples make their weddings unique and choose what feels right for them.
When the registrar pronounced them married, the room erupted; I've never heard such loud cheers and such a huge amount of applause before! Outside on those iconic steps, friends showered them with confetti on those famous - a moment that felt straight out of a classic British romcom.
Reception at Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings
From the Town Hall, it was a quick taxi ride to Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings in Clerkenwell and it couldn’t have been a better reception venue. Walking in feels like stepping into a hidden botanical greenhouse, with trailing plants and soft dappled light. I love all the little features that make this wedding venue so unique.
Guests spilled out onto the roadside in front of the venue with drinks in hand, while inside, tables were set for dinner. No stiff formality, no overly staged moments just beautifully served dishes and the kind of atmosphere where people immediately relax. I love that espresso martinis were served after dinner to start the party!
