A ceremony in the heart of Edinburgh

Anna and Jason exchanged vows in the Edinburgh City Chambers, an iconic venue in the heart of the Royal Mile. It's so historic and has such a gorgeous exterior and provided such an intimate atmosphere for the wedding ceremony. They chose to get married with just their immediate family so it made the vibe incredibly intimate and special.

An intimate dinner before the festivities

Before heading to their reception, the couple and their closest family enjoyed a private, intimate dinner in the centre of Edinburgh. This allowed them to soak in the day, share laughter, and raise a toast to the journey ahead, surrounded by their family. It was a beautiful way to transition from the formality of the ceremony to the excitement of the evening celebrations. One of my favourite parts of the day was when we all left Edinburgh City Chambers to head to dinner - a busker was playing on the Royal Mile and Anna and Jason decided to have an impromptu first dance!

The elegance of The Signet Library

For the reception, the newlyweds chose the magnificent Signet Library, a venue renowned for its breathtaking neoclassical architecture, towering bookshelves (my favourite part!), and elegant atmosphere. The candlelit tables, adorned with lush florals, created a warm and romantic ambiance. It was so lovely to witness Anna and Jason's family and friends arriving and excitedly greeting them and wanting to hear all about how the wedding ceremony had gone!

A true Scottish celebration: ceilidh dancing

No Scottish wedding is complete without a ceilidh, and this one was no exception! Guests took to the dance floor, twirling and laughing as they joined in the traditional reels. I always love the lively energy of the ceilidh - it's always so fun to photograph. The wedding guests that had never taken part in a ceilidh before were led by Jason in his kilt and impressively quickly all the guests were twirling away as though it was so natural for them!

Photographing an Edinburgh wedding

Photographing this wedding was an absolute joy. From the intimate ceremony to the laughter and exhilaration of the ceilidh, every moment was filled with love and celebration. The stunning backdrop of Edinburgh, from its historic cobbled streets to the grandeur of The Signet Library, added an extra layer of magic to an already unforgettable day. Edinburgh provided the perfect setting, combining history, beauty, and tradition to create such an incredible wedding day.
