Capturing the beauty of smaller weddings in Manchester

There is something incredibly special about being part of smaller, more intimate weddings in Manchester. These celebrations, though small in size, are always filled with immense warmth, genuine connection, and unique charm. Intimate weddings mean that the couple feel more relaxed, that they're able to choose elements of the day to concentrate on that mean the most to them rather than worrying about organising a larger wedding. Chiara and Calum’s wedding at Manchester Registry Office was no exception. With just two close friends in attendance, they chose to keep things simple and meaningful before jetting off to Italy for their main wedding celebrations later in the year.

A relaxed intimate wedding

One of my favourite parts of photographing micro weddings is the opportunity to spend quality time with the couple and get to know them. It’s a chance to share in their excitement - I loved hearing them speak about their upcoming Italian wedding. Micro weddings allow for a relaxed atmosphere, where genuine emotions take centre stage. You could feel the love, excitement and anticipation as they prepared for the next chapter of their journey and their wedding celebrations!

Exploring Manchester

Manchester is a brilliant city for wedding photography - it offers a stunning blend of classic and contemporary backdrops that I'll never get bored of. For Chiara and Calum’s micro wedding, the iconic Manchester Central Library was just a short stroll from Heron House Registry Office. Its grand architecture and elegant columns provided a timeless setting.

The city’s urban landscape is constantly evolving, with modern skyscrapers rising alongside historic buildings. I've loved watching the change in the city and how this has in turn changed my wedding photography. This mix of old and new creates endless opportunities for creative compositions. Whether it’s capturing the couple against a sleek glass façade or nestled in the charming side streets, Manchester’s vibrant architecture never fails to inspire.

Wedding style that stands out

Chiara and Calum’s choice of wedding attire perfectly complemented the understated, relaxed feeling of their day. Chiara’s short wedding dress was both chic and contemporary, offering a fresh twist on traditional bridal fashion. Her unique headpiece added individuality and flair, elevating her look. Calum looked effortlessly stylish, his outfit reflecting the relaxed and sophisticated vibe of their ceremony.

As a photographer, seeing the outfits my couples have chosen is always a highlight of my day and I love seeing couples who express their personalities through their style. These details truly make the day more personal.

Why smaller weddings are so special

Micro weddings like Chiara and Calum’s are a reminder that love is at the heart of every celebration. Stripped of the grand scale and hectic schedules of larger weddings, these intimate days allow couples to focus on what truly matters: their bond and their love. They’re a celebration of authenticity, where every moment feels meaningful and every detail reflects the couple’s story.

For those considering a smaller wedding in Manchester, the city offers countless options for a memorable day. From iconic venues like Manchester Registry Office to stunning urban backdrops, the possibilities are endless.
